Critical Thinking and Writing
Workload: 4MC
[Taken from NUSMOD]
The challenges of a global engineer increasingly call upon engineers to think critically and communicate effectively to undertake developmental leadership. This course aims to develop and practise students’ critical thinking and writing skills through analysing case studies in engineering leadership, constructing complex engineering-related problems and solutions, presenting arguments effectively and reflecting on personal leadership development. Relevance to engineering practice is emphasized with references to grounded theories of engineering leadership and the seven missing basics of engineering education.

Taken in: Semester 2, AY20/21
Tutor: Mr Wong Wei Li
Difficulty of exam/assignment: 5 / 10
Pros/ Like:
- The tutor was super duper helpful
Cons/ Dislike:
- It's either a lot of fluffing or a lot of time spent on this mod.
Workload: Depends on your attitude towards the mod. Most people probably spent minimal effort enough to S/U. If you are more serious then probably 3-6 hours a week excluding lesson time. (for group discussion)
The lectures were more like video recording with some theory to guide your argument (I stopped watching them halfway though, didn't really find them useful).
First part is individual work, got to do some forum thing before tutorial/sectional every week.
Second part is group work, need to write a paper about 2k words (depends on the number of people in the group)
Basically this mod is like PW 2.0 imo.
